A celebration of life is being planned for Boulder Creek resident Ethan Somedy, who died March 7 in Boulder Creek. He was 47.
Mr. Somedy was born in San Bernardino to John Edward and Judith Elaine (Abbott) Somedy. The family moved to Scotts Valley when he was young, and he grew up there as an only child.
Mr. Somedy earned a bachelor’s degree in physics and worked as a civil engineer at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo until its closure in 1996. He later worked as a smog technician in Scotts Valley.
He lived in Boulder Creek for four years.
Relatives described him as vibrant, intelligent, animated and full of fun.
Mr. Somedy is survived by one daughter, Miranda White of Boulder Creek, and her family; an aunt; and two cousins.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Judy Somedy, in 2008 and his father, John E. Somedy, in 2010.
