
Scotts Valley High freshman Isabelle Jas had quite the impact in her first season with the girls basketball team.
So much so, the coaches within the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League recognized the Falcon star player as the best in the league, and was named the Most Valuable Player for the 2025-26 winter campaign.
Jas was a double-double machine as she finished with an average of 14.2 points and 17.9 rebounds per game in 30 games played this season, according to the Max Preps website. She was also tallying 4.1 blocks, 2.3 assists and 2.2 steals per game.
Aptos High sophomore Isabella Alvarez was named the league’s Offensive Player of the Year. She finished with an average of 22 points per contest, according to the Monterey Bay Preps website.
Scotts Valley head coach Stu Hurvitz was named the SCCAL’s Coach of the Year after helping lead the Falcons to their first-ever Central Coast Section Division IV championship in the program’s history.
Seniors Sammy Rebbert and Brooklyn Williams along with junior Hanna Shehorn each earned All-SCCAL First Team honors for back-to-back league champion Scotts Valley.
Shehorn had an average of 13.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.5 steals per game this past winter season.
Rebbert had an average of 10.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.7 assists and an astonishing 5.5 steals per game. Williams’ averages were 10.2 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.3 assists per contest.
Teammate senior Amaya Guerra and San Lorenzo Valley freshman Avery Avilla each earned all-league second team honors.
Guerra finished with a steady average of 5.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.3 assists per game this season for Scotts Valley, which reached the California Interscholastic Federation Northern Regional D-III semifinals for the first time in the program’s history.
