Scotts Valley's Angela Silver goes up for a shot against rival Soquel High. Lucjan Szewczyk/Press-Banner

For the second time this season, the Soquel Knights exploited weak spots in the visiting Falcons’ game to topple the defending league champions, 44-29 on Friday, Feb. 3.
The Knights led 15-14 at the end of the first quarter but the Lady Falcons were in good position. However, in the second quarter the Knights pulled ahead by outscoring the normally potent Scotts Valley offense 16-3. The Knight’s outburst found the Falcons trailing 31-17 at the half.
“We fell behind and couldn’t catch back up,” said Falcon Head Coach Jim Hart. “They did a good job slowing down our offense and we never recovered.”
Falcon senior Natalia Ebrahemian, the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic Leagues’ leading scorer at a 20.04 points-per-game clip, was limited to six points on the night.
Teammate Nadene Hart, a sophomore, led the scoring with a game high 12 points and 10 rebounds to wrap up a double-double.
Angela Silver had a tough night for the Falcons, scoring four points against Soquel. She averages nearly 10 points a game.
Scotts Valley, now in third place behind Soquel and Santa Cruz, fell to 7-4 in the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League while the Knights improved to 9-1.
The Falcons played Aptos Thursday, Feb. 9, results of which where unavailable by press time, and will begin the SCCAL tournament Feb. 13, against an opponent to be determined.
