Fallen trees close Empire Grade in Bonny Doon

Two trees fell across Empire Grade Road at Smith Grade Road in Bonny Doon on Tuesday morning, closing the road to traffic in both directions.
Smith Grade is also partly closed with a tree down that knocked out a telephone lines as reported at about 10 a.m. Initial reports are that power lines remain intact on the rural two-lane roads.
Emergency crews are on scene and Santa Cruz County road crews are in route to clear the roadway.
Emergency crews are placing “road closed” signs at the corner of Empire Grade and Felton Empire Road.
Light rain is falling in the area.
