A Felton man who pleaded guilty in June to killing another man with a kitchen knife in 2006 was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison last week.
Cesar Ojeda Hernandez, 38, pleaded guilty to stabbing and killing 51-year-old Stephen Cline at a mental health facility in Felton on Aug. 10, 2006. Hernandez then turned on the facilities manager, stabbing her in the chin and the chest with a knife, causing wounds which she survived.
Judge Paul Burdick issued the ruling on July 15 in Santa Cruz County Superior Court in Santa Cruz. Hernandez could also face up to $250,000 in restitution, an amount which will be determined at a later date. Hernandez has been diagnosed with schizophrenia.
