Firefighters finish putting out a fire on Sherman Drive that was reported at 11:54 a.m. on Monday. The temperature was in the low 80s with little wind at the time of the blaze.

A small fire that started on an embankment between two homes on Sherman Drive in Scotts Valley was quickly extinguished early this afternoon.
The fire was reported by a neighbor on Sherman Drive when smoke was seen billowing from an embankment with several shrubs and dry grasses.
Several neighbors who were home at the time quickly picked up garden hoses from the neighboring properties and doused the fire until firefighters from Scotts Valley Fire Department arrived on scene to fully distinguish the small blaze.
The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes and appeared to have burned a small portion of landscaping and a dry stump in the residential neighborhood.
