A memorial is planned Saturday, Aug. 7, for Geraldine Tomczak, who died July 24 after a long battle with heart disease.
Mrs. Tomczak was born to Selma and Frank Tomczak in Sturgeon Lake, Minn., and grew up in Ray, Minn., with four brothers and a sister.
As a girl, she helped with the family’s lumber company, fished in Lake Kabatogama and went to church. She married and moved to Santa Cruz, where she lived a life devoted to her five children. She worked for a time at Santa’s Village, Crockers, the Village Bottle Shop, Village Rexall Pharmacy, Seagate and Zede, and she was also a cosmetologist.
Mrs. Tomczak is survived by her sons, Gary Tromblee, and his wife, Nancy, Joe Tromblee, and his wife, Becky, and Tom Tromblee, and his wife, Abby; daughters, Diane Tromblee and Mona Hogye, and her husband, Tom; sister, Lorraine Ruelle, and her husband, John; and brothers, Eugene Tomczak, Rufus Tomczak and Jim Tomczak, and his wife, Marlene.
She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Bernard Tomczak.
A private family burial is planned, followed by Saturday’s memorial celebration. Friends of Mrs. Tomczak are welcome to join in the celebration of her life at 3 p.m. at Highlands House and Park, 8500 Highway 9, in Ben Lomond.
