Glenn “Yorky” William Olsen
Nov. 18, 1949 to Sept. 27, 2013
Former Boulder Creek resident Glenn William Olsen died in Santa Cruz in late September, surrounded by his family. He was 63.
Mr. Olsen was born to William and Marcy Olsen in Marinette, Wisc. and graduated from Marinette Catholic Central High School in 1968.
Family said Mr. Olsen was a joyful person who loved to laugh. He was fond of his dogs, the Green Bay Packers, music — especially Bob Dylan — and his family.
He enjoyed golf, walking his dog and living in Pine Beach.
He retired five years ago from Menominee Paper Co. after 27 years and moved to California and lived in Boulder Creek for four years.
Mr. Olsen was a member of several bands including Mill Pond Ferry and Yorky Yorkinson and the New Yorkers, and attended Woodstock. Over the years he became an accomplished guitarist.
He is survived by his parents William and Marcy Olson of Marinette, Wisc.; daughter Kris (Walter) of San Jose; sisters Susan of Vista, Mary of Canadiagua, New York, and Kris of Marinette; brothers Lee of Suamico, Wisc., Bill of Lake Linden, Mich.; Tim of Porterfield, Wisc., and Tom of Etowah, Tenn.; his companion Maggie; six grandchildren and many friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at a future Packer’s game tailgate party. For information, email
