EDITOR,
I’m confused about former Republican Party official Aaron Hinde, who’s running for the county board of education. I’ve read in the newspaper that Hinde supports a parcel tax for Scotts Valley schools, a position popular with the school community. But in his ballot statement, he cites the endorsement of the conservative political organization the Senior Coalition. The Senior Coalition is known for its effort to defund local schools by convincing seniors to exempt themselves from paying school parcel taxes. So my question is, does Hinde simultaneously support a parcel tax in Scotts Valley and also support the defunding of the tax once it’s passed?
