Horse Sense Education and Advocacy Nonprofit (HSNP) presented its Diamond Heart fundraiser dinner at Scapazzi’s Italian Cuisine on Oct. 12.

Aimed at building connections and partnerships between horses and humans that empower and enrich lives, HSNP is a verified, 501(c)3 certified nonprofit based in Felton.

Over the past several years, flooding in San Lorenzo Valley has prompted multiple horse evacuations. Although the Santa Cruz Mountains are home to several equestrian centers that generously open available space to fill the evacuation needs, more space is needed.

HSNP has secured use of acres of high land from generous donations that will provide a safe, flood-free option for evacuated horses, and a location to offer its Healing Heroes and Special Causes programs that promote healing health and emotional support.

“Heartfelt thanks to all the attendees who come together for a common goal that enhances the community and the wellbeing of others,” HSNP said.

Donations from the event will be used to complete projects, including corral construction, and continue the facility’s development.
