Highway 9 has been re-opened as of 4:45 p.m.. However, traffic is still very slow in the area
A fire at a residence at the south end of Boulder Creek caused law enforcement to close Highway 9 in both directions early Thursday afternoon.
The fire started at 1:20 p.m. at a home at 12585 Highway 9. It caused law enforcement to close the highway in both directions while they evacuated the home and put out the fire.
The owner of the home was not home at the time, but a man in a wheelchair was rescued from the house. He was near the scene without any injuries.
The home was next door to the San Lorenzo Valley Museum, which is hosting the opening of a Model Train Exhibition tonight from 5 to 7 p.m. The opening is still on, according to museum staff.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
