Construction on a $3 million retaining wall project on Highway 17 near Santa’s Village Road is set to begin Monday, Jan. 31, Caltrans officials announced Tuesday, Jan. 25.
The roadwork will require alternating lane closures to allow workers build a half-mile retaining wall just north of the Santa’s Village Road exit to Crescent Drive.
The lane closures may cause delays of up to 15 minutes.
Weather permitting, the work is expected to be completed by spring 2012.
The contractor for the project is Gordon N. Ball Inc. of Alamo, the same company that completed the repair of Highway 9 between Felton and Santa Cruz in December.
