Cronin

Former valley resident John Robert Cronin Jr., 49, of Honesdale, Pa., died July 23.
Born in Fort Ord, he grew up in the San Lorenzo Valley area for 16 years and graduated from San Lorenzo Valley High School in 1979.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army for more 20 years. He participated in Operation Just Cause in Panama, was a part of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in the Sinai Peninsula and was reactivated from reservist status to fight in the Iraq War following the events of Sept. 11, 2001.
Mr. Cronin is survived by three daughters, Monika Vakulchik of Piscataway, N.J., Juliet Ashton of Pennsylvania and Nicole Cronin of Philadelphia, Pa.
He is also survived by his mother, Judy Cronin-Rodman of Honesdale; two brothers, Richard Cronin of Milanville, Pa., and Randall Cronin of South Lake Tahoe; and a niece and a nephew.
His father, John R. Cronin Sr., preceded him in death.
Memorial services took place July 30 in Milanville.
