At the Wednesday, Dec. 19, meeting of the Scotts Valley City Council, longtime Councilman Randy Johnson was appointed to succeed Donna Lind as mayor, his fifth turn in the titular role.
Johnson was elected unanimously to serve a one year term that is voted on by the council each year. The mayor is the spokesperson for the council and leads meetings.
A member of the City Council since 1996, Johnson said his goals as mayor would be to focus on the city’s economic development and stability, make improvements to roads and infrastructure, promote public safety and expand the visibility of recreation and youth services.
Councilmember Jim Reed was named vice mayor during the meeting.
