Joseph P. Busa, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, died on Saturday, March 12, 2016.
Joe was born in Woburn, Mass. He graduated from Sequoia High School in Redwood City in 1939 and then joined the Marine Corps Reserves. In 1942, he was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps and enlisted in the Navy. Joe remained in the Naval Reserve until 1950. In World War II, Joe was a Boatswain’s Mate and was awarded a purple heart for his service.
In 1949, he opened a florist shop in Menlo Park. In January 1952, he married Laura, and in 1962, they moved to San Lorenzo Valley with their two sons, Mark and Joel. Joe was employed with Pacific Telephone from 1955 through 1977. He obtained his real estate license in 1968 and owned Busa Reality before going to work at ERA Real Estate in Felton.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife; his brothers, Tony, Hank and Hugo; and his son Mark. He is survived by his sister, Olga; son Joel and his wife Sherri; foster daughter Cynthia Getz; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A viewing was held on March 19. There will be a private burial and memorial at his home at 2 p.m. on April 30.
