EDITOR,
One day in September, I noticed four kittens in my wood pile. I came to realize that the kittens had been abandoned by their mother. I knew I had to do something, but I did not know where to turn.
That is when Project Purr in Santa Cruz came to the rescue. They loaned me traps and cages and guided me through the process of trapping feral kittens and caring for them until they were old enough to be fixed and vaccinated, so they could be adopted.
Thanks to them, there are four fewer feral kittens out there reproducing.
I won’t lie, it was an eye-opening experience, but the joy of watching these kittens grow from terrified ferals to loving, trusting kittens warmed my heart and filled me with pride, knowing I was helping to keep the feral cat population down.
I also need to give a heartfelt thanks to Shelly who runs Shelly’s Guardian Angels out of Boulder Creek Liquors and Lois who runs Lifeline Cat Rescue.
Without these three cat rescue projects, I do not know how I would have gotten through this.
They all depend on donations. Please help these wonderful projects during this season of giving (all donations are tax deductible).

By the way, all four kittens have been adopted into new loving homes. I’ve done my part; will you? Your heart will grow big like the Grinch’s.
