EDITOR,
I cannot begin to tell you how disappointed I am with Supervisor Mark Stone’s conduct regarding Pat Spence’s reappointment to the Santa Cruz Metropolitan Transit District’s board of directors.
How can he possibly pass over someone that has more than eight years of exemplary, award-winning service, knowledge, commitment and interest in serving our community (all citizens of Santa Cruz County, including the disabled)? What a waste of a well-trained, valuable resource. There is no doubt in my mind that his personal and political aspirations overrode his integrity.
• Editor’s note: Supervisor Mark Stone voted for county Supervisor John Leopold, who won the seat by a 3-2 margin over Pat Spence on Dec. 8. Leopold will begin the 4-year term Jan. 1. Spence had served eight years on the transit board.
