EDITOR,
While Bruce McPherson claims to champion women’s issues, we women’s health practitioners are concerned about the disconnect between his current claims and his actual voting record while in the California Legislature.
These are just a few of the important women’s health issues McPherson failed to support: He voted against requiring health care providers to cover certain prescription contraceptives. He voted against making it mandatory for insurance plans to cover screening, diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer and sexually transmitted infections. He voted against establishing an Office of Women’s Health within the Department of Health Services and a task force to address women’s health issues. Planned Parenthood’s Legislative Scorecards judged McPherson to be “leaning anti-choice” based on his voting record.
We care more about what McPherson has done than what he says during election season. Please join us in supporting Eric Hammer for 5th District supervisor.
