EDITOR,
To the woman driving a silver, small SUV-style vehicle northbound on Highway 9 in Felton at 4:20 p.m. Thursday, April 8: Do you realize that you fled the scene of an accident?
As you veered into the southbound lane and nearly hit us head-on, my son hit the brakes; the truck behind me veered off to the side and avoided us, but then was hit from behind by another vehicle. All three vehicles were driven by San Lorenzo Valley High School students who I think did a wonderful job, considering the situation.
You were obviously an adult who was using her cell phone. The surprising thing was that you had a big grin on your face as you headed straight for us. Do you think this was funny? You nearly caused a major accident, and you didn’t even stop to see if the people in the accident were OK.
If nothing else, I would like this to be a reminder to all drivers that using a cell phone while driving is very dangerous.
