Letter: Developments lead to traffic and infrastructure strain

I am not a native, but have been here since 1973. At that time, Scotts Valley was an airport, Camp Evers, a fruit stand, the Lost World and Santa’s Village as well as several mobile home parks, and horse pastures.
I have lived and worked in Santa Cruz County. I chose low-paying jobs so I would not have to commute.
After seeing your front page article on the SV housing boom (Developments pop up in Scotts Valley, Feb. 21, page 3), I fail to see the advantage of adding more vehicles to the already congested Highway 17, and dense housing.
There will be very few open spaces in Scotts Valley. More growth can mean more crime, more traffic, more demand for resources and more strain on the infrastructure. And where will all the water come from?
