“Woodside offensive to Scotts Valley standards”? (Commentary, Randy Johnson, Jan. 14)
I’m not offended. My passion, intellectual and emotional levels have already been exhausted by the Gateway South debacle and debate. Woodside is peanuts compared to what could have and still may greet residents and visitors to our fine city. Our “development standards” have already been challenged and “cast aside” carelessly. That ship has sailed.
While I sympathize with Johnson’s emotions and I feel his pain, I somehow think this is good for him, a reality check. Being offended by a project that transforms a viable property into a giveaway or something less than our general or specific plan originally suggested is a questionable thing. Feeling offended is a healthy emotion. Welcome to Scotts Valley politics, Councilman Johnson. Sometimes you just have to listen to the people.
