Letter: Hart is the right choice for Sheriff

EDITOR,
I want to take the opportunity to speak about a friend, and someone I know will be of great service to our county. I feel Jim Hart is the best candidate for the office of Sheriff of Santa Cruz County.
Jim grew up here and is a respected member of the county. He is very involved in the community, having been the Scotts Valley girls varsity basketball coach for eight years. He also taught criminal justice classes at Cabrillo for several years.
I feel Jim’s 26-year experience with the Sheriff‘s Department, leadership and commitment to the safety of the community definitely make him the best candidate.
I worked with Jim at the Sheriffs’ Department several years ago and saw firsthand his dedication to getting illegal drugs off our streets.
I am proud to know Jim and know that he will lead the Santa Cruz County Sheriffs Department in a fantastic direction; one that will greatly improve the safety of our little paradise, and continue to strengthen community relations with law enforcement.
He has had that rare ability of being able to effectively work the streets as well as speak to all levels of government and clearly convey they needs of the community at large, as well as the department.
I encourage all county voters to take to the polls on June 3 and elect a great leader: Jim Hart!
