EDITOR:
I first moved into the 5th supervisor district in 1958 and still live in this district today. Scotts Valley area is just what it say’s a big valley and folks see each other as one big valley community of friends and neighbors. Before Highway 17, Scotts Valley Drive was the main road from Santa Cruz to San Jose and all points north. We certainly didn’t distinguish between neighbors that lived on one side of Scotts Valley Drive or the other; we were all just Scotts Valley folks. The same is true today, no matter which side of Highway 17 one lives on, were all just Scotts Valley folks. This idea of splitting up Scotts Valley into two supervisor districts, depending on which side of Highway 17 one lives on is a bad thing to do as it would be splitting up friends and neighbors that have lived together under one county supervisor for over fifty years. I hope the supervisors, especially our supervisor Mark Stone will do the right thing and not split up this wonderful little valley of friends and neighbors. How about it Mark, Neal, John, Ellen and Greg, please do the right thing and leave Scotts Valley as one contiguous supervisor community.
