EDITOR,
For six years, the Valley Women’s Club’s Education Committee has distributed a special bag to each incoming SLV Schools’ kindergartener. A special anonymous donor is supporting the bags this year. Items such as a hardback book, pencil, colored paper, crayons, scissors, and library card application provide an easier beginning for the young students. For many it holds the first book they have ever owned.
The San Lorenzo Valley Elementary distribution, March 14 Kindergarten Round-Up, brought great excitement as the colorful school bags were given out.
The next distribution takes place April 18 at the Ludlow Campus behind SLV High, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., where a unique Transition Kindergarten prepares younger children for the regular program. Boulder Creek Elementary Kindergarten Orientation is May 23, 2 to 4 p.m. (For more information regarding registering your child for school in the fall, visit the SLV School District website http://www.slv.k12.ca.us/schools.html).
Best wishes to all the new enrollees.
Rosalind Alley, Chair, VWC Environmental Committee
