Letter: No vote for Supervisor Coonerty

Four years ago, I voted for Neal Coonerty for county supervisor. Never again!
I thought he would be a friend to my community of 34 years, Bonny Doon, like Gary Patton and Mardi Wormhoudt. I was wrong! As supervisor and LAFCo appointee, he has thwarted the Bonny Doon community’s strong desire to vote on forming a Bonny Doon Fire District. He continues to be confused over the Cal Fire role in wildland fire suppression, which is that Cal Fire is 100 percent responsible all year long in “state responsibility areas,” regardless of the local fire district, and that it is paid for with existing state taxes.
I will not be voting for Doug Deitch, since it is my opinion that he actually resides in Aptos. I will vote for architect Cove Britton, since I know him to be an honorable businessman who will listen to the needs of his constituents. I have known Britton for almost 20 years, and I know he will be kind to the environment while also working to make county processes fair and user-friendly to all county residents.
