EDITOR,
I will not be running for another term on the Scotts Valley school board. I think it’s time to make way for parents of younger children to serve.
All of our schools are high-achieving and focus on continuous improvement. Brook Knoll and Vine Hill targeted second-graders for extra attention, the middle school revamped the schedule at no added cost to help all students succeed, and 26 high school graduates earned the Golden State Seal Merit Diploma in June for their scores on the S.T.A.R. exams. The emphasis on math this coming year is exciting.
I’ve enjoyed interacting with students, parents, teachers and community members, and I expect I will contribute in other ways. With the state legislative analyst predicting four or five bad budget years, this district will face serious financial challenges, and the school board election will give the community an opportunity to discuss solutions.
