EDITOR,
Currently, no easily understood, comprehensive plan exists in the Lompico Water District for the short- or long-term future of the district, and there is no interest from the majority of the board of directors in developing one, except to join the San Lorenzo Valley Water District.
I have noted at various water district meetings in both July and August that a portion of the Lompico community would like to see an alternate plan developed, in case the merger does not take place. It is clear to me that this plan will have to come from within the community of Lompico itself. I feel this plan should come from interested members of the community as a combined group effort, taking into account all opinions, whether they are for or against the merger with SLVWD. The focus would be to develop a five-year operating plan and budget to continue the operation and management of the Lompico Water District for the community. It has been brought to my attention that proactive and concerned citizens have already created a local group, Responsibly Educated Advocates for Lompico Committee, to explore an alternate option.
Anyone interested in participating or contacting the REAL Committee can e-mail them at re************@***oo.com. I also will note that they also have created a community blog site for all opinions to be heard and shared. This can be reached via the Internet at address http://173.8.143.133:8082/wordpress
The board of directors president, Director Rick Harrington, has already used this blog site to share current information about the district , and I encourage all Lompico community members to log in and share their thoughts and concerns not only about the merger, but any subject that concerns them regarding our water district. Let’s find the solutions we need for the water district as a community.
