EDITOR,
Jeanne Rose’s letter (“A reminder to slow down,” Sept. 30) imploring valley drivers to please slow down inspired me to chime in. I live across from Highlands Park. We live at the bottom of Park Drive on a steep hill with no sidewalks. We have two young children, and five days a week, I pull out of my driveway holding my breath, praying that we are not hit by a speeding car on my way to their schools. I’m no saint; I used to be one of the speeders. But now that I bear witness to dangerous, mindless driving almost every day in my own neighborhood, I think and drive differently. I slow down. I ask that everyone make an effort to drive more safely — it’s not worth saving an extra few seconds when someone’s life is at stake. Thank you.
