EDITOR,
Your story about the losing of the Lange home (“Paradise lost to bank indifference,” Commentary, April 23) was very sad to read. My wife had tears in her eyes when she read the story to me, and we don’t even know the Lange family. Perhaps knowing that this can happen to almost anyone at any time these days because of our shipwrecked economy makes it all the more real.
I can’t help but think this is the natural consequence of a nation that has abandoned its God and his laws. Many good people get hurt because of this. As in the case of the Lange story, I believe it is a result of an ungodly practice called usury.
Usury, according to the Bible, is charging any interest when loaning and is considered dishonest profit, iniquity, stealing and is condemned (Exodus 22:25, Deuteronomy 23:19, Proverbs 28:8).
Bankers have redefined usury to be “excessive” interest only. Our money system is no longer real money backed by gold or silver, but by thin air. Many banks loan multiple times what they actually have in their vaults (called fractionalizing) and even sell their loan agreements (or promissory notes) to other buyers and banks at a discount for quick money. Many of these buyers no longer have the original mortgage agreements, which have been lost in these type of transactions. This is the last line of defense for someone losing their home. This defense is to make the owner (bank) produce the original note that has the borrower’s real (not photocopied) signature on it. This is the only real proof that they actually own that mortgage.
Just do a search on “produce the note” and you will get plenty of info on this. My prayers are with you during this hard time.
