EDITOR,
Responding to “We put ‘speed’ in speed dating” (Letters, March 5), I’d like to share, as the event organizer, the two events so far.
I appreciate Miles Zarathustra’s humor in describing San Lorenzo Valley residents and hope he showers more than once a month, isn’t missing all his teeth and doesn’t have 20 junked cars at home. In SLV, it would be much easier today to find many professional, employed people, some millionaires, and many warm-hearted people who care for their surroundings and their health.
After both speed-dating events, 100 percent of the feedback was: It was really fun.
The energy was amazing, as about 20 people talked about all kinds of things they’re interested in. Nobody came noticeably under the influence of drugs or alcohol, nobody offended anybody. If someone did, they would be turned away immediately or given their $15 back and be made to leave.
If two people had teeth missing, pitbulls, junkers and failing septics, they’d likely experience a double match.
But the valley isn’t that bad — we respectfully enjoy individuality in SLV. It gets a bit quiet at nights and a bit lonely at times, so here’s a solution for good people to meet one another who don’t have many opportunities except the Internet, which lacks chemistry, or the few bars here, which many do not feel is the best way to find someone new.
After speed dating in Felton, many people will meet again for a coffee, lunch or whatever. That’s great for people’s lives, and for local restaurants, clubs and cafes. It’s safe, enjoyable and worth attending.
