EDITOR,
The irony of the growing concern about skateboarders being bothered by kids riding scooters at the Skypark Skate Park is surely amusing. While scooters are outlawed at the park, there they are. But there are a lot of things that are banned at the skate park, and there they are. Things like smoking, drinking, littering, vulgar language and behavior, people with no helmets, etc, etc, etc. All outlawed and present on a daily basis. The scooter explosion happened after the park was opened. Perhaps a modification of the municipal code needs to be addressed to allow scooters at the skate park, something that happens on a daily basis. Have today’s skateboarders forgotten when they were on the outside looking in, when they were outlawed and ostracized in many places? It’s a community we live in, at times, that calls for flexibility.
