EDITOR,
Valley residents — which my wife, Rella, and I have been for 38 years — have the opportunity to elect as our 5th district supervisor Bruce McPherson. Bruce has a background of experience and proven dedication to public service that is unmatched. He served as our state assemblyman from 1993 to 1996 and as our state senator from 1996 to 2004. He was appointed by then-Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger as California’s 30th secretary of state in March 2005 and confirmed unanimously by both Democrat-controlled houses of the state Legislature. In addition to his public service, Bruce has a long record of business experience in our county. Over the years, he has worked for the Santa Cruz Sentinel; his final position there as its publisher. Bruce and his family have deep roots in Santa Cruz County. Beyond his stellar credentials, he is a good and fair person. As a former three-term president of the Boulder Creek Business Association and twice chair of the Santa Cruz City-County Library Board, I, along with my wife, Rella, strongly support Bruce McPherson in his bid to represent the San Lorenzo Valley and Scotts Valley area as 5th District Supervisor. We respectfully ask that you examine his record much as an employer would an employee. After doing so, it is our hope you will cast your vote on Nov. 6 for Bruce McPherson and elect/hire him as our local government representative for the office of Santa Cruz County 5th District supervisor.
Jim and Rella Lee, Boulder Creek
