Letters: A tale of two valleys

Friday night, I took four boys to the basketball game between San Lorenzo Valley and Scotts Valley. While my car was parked in the parking lot, I had two tires slashed.
Last year, when we played at Scotts Valley, there was a fight in which the police needed to be called. When the two teams played at SLV, there was no problem. This year, the teams played at SLV without a problem.
At SV, my tires were slashed. I would think that SV would be more proactive and have the police patrol the parking lot and walk through the gym to let everyone know they are there. I know that when I have gone to the games at SLV, I do see sheriffs in the parking lot and in the gym.
These teams are rivals, but when it comes to things like this, something needs to be done. I talked with the principal of SV, and he wasn’t even at the game. I would think that it would be a priority, in light of what has happened in the past.
I believe the parents of these kids should be teaching them better to respect others and their property.
Many people in SLV asked me if I had a courage paw on my car. Yes, I do. That shouldn’t matter. Some friends of mine stopped, and while we were waiting for the tow truck, no one stopped to see if we were OK. I know when I’ve had a problem with my car in SLV, lots of people stop to see if I’m OK. 
I’m a single parent, and this created a big hardship for me. Thanks to the wonderful people of SLV, my car was towed home, the kids were taken home and tires were on my car within a few days. These two valleys are so close in distance but so far apart in community support for each other. 
Why is that? 
Thanks, San Lorenzo Valley. You rock. I’m glad I live in the San Lorenzo Valley and not Scotts Valley. We in SLV are a community that believes in helping each other.
