EDITOR,
I was driving down Highway 9 several months ago when something on the road caught my eye. I thought I saw the image of Mickey Mouse on the pavement. So, I stopped, made a U-turn and went back about 100 yards to check it out.
I had just passed San Lorenzo Valley High School and was continuing toward Ben Lomond when, before my very eyes on the pavement, was the image of Mickey Mouse created by three drainage covers at the intersection of Highway 9 and El Solyo Heights Road.
It’s silly and funny, I know, but even at my age, 66, it gives me a good laugh. My grown children and my grandchildren get a kick out of it, too. I just wonder if the city workers ever realized that they had created an icon when they first constructed this configuration of pipes.
Now, whenever we drive down Highway 9, we all — including my 62-year-old wife — say, “There’s Mickey.”
