EDITOR,
I am responding to the “Senior fed up with the SPCA” letter from Aug. 7.
It seems a shame that such a win-win situation should be stymied by money.
The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has animals needing homes, and older folks benefit in so many ways from having a pet.
Is there a possible alliance with AARP, PETA or our local Gray Bears that the SPCA could pursue? Could reduced rates for seniors be a possible solution? How about a fee donation jar on the counter?
Surely there must be some way to help these lonely, homeless animals find homes with some lonely folks with homes to offer.
