Thank you 4th of July sponsors and supporters
We want to thank the community for supporting the City of Scotts Valley’s 4th of July Parade and Flyover. The City was blessed with several sponsors:
- Gold Sponsors – Phil Allegri Electric Inc. and Donna Lind;
- Silver Sponsors – Garrison Plumbing and Septic Construction;
- Bronze Sponsors – Canepa Motors, Faultline, Hangar Skypark, Kings Village, Penny Ice Cream, Corky Roberson, T-Mobile and Derek Timm; and
- Supporters – Business with Pleasure, Music Now DJ, Scotts Valley Police Department and City of Scotts Valley.
This is the 10th year that Said Karssli, owner of Little Tampico, has coordinated a spectacular flyover for the community. Pilots fly from all over the North West Coast to provide the flyover, receiving no reimbursement. They’re hosted by Mr. Karssli at Little Tampico. Mr. Karssli coordinates the flyover, which has become a special part of the 4th of July Parade.
The City was honored with over 30 volunteers, including 13 from the Scotts Valley Sportsmen’s Club, members of Santa Cruz Moose Lodge and Hope Church Scotts Valley. We also thank all those who participated in the parade and the community who attended and shared their appreciation.
Much appreciation to everyone who made the 2023 4th of July Parade a success!

Parade route causes frustration
Yesterday (July 4), we tried to watch the parade on Scotts Valley Drive. We were located near the car wash. Only a minute or two before the parade started, they moved the turnaround point from El Pueblo Drive near the Four Points Sheraton.
This left hundreds of families and people scrambling to find a new location. My wife and I are in our late 70s, and the younger people crowded in front of us. We could not see much of the parade and many people were rude.
We had our business here since the early ’70s and have been watching the parade for over 50 years. I really suggest they do a much better job of describing the route in advance. Thank you for allowing me to vent my frustration.
