A memorial service will be held at a later date for Lisa Marie Pierce who died at home in Corralitos with her husband and mother-in-law by her side. She was 48.
Mrs. Pierce fought a long battle with the inherited disease von Recklinghausen neurofibromatosis, known as Elephant Man Disease.
Mrs. Pierce was a 20-year Valley Churches United volunteer beginning at St. Andrews Episcopal Church after the storms of 1982.
She was Annette Marcum’s first foster child and was placed in the Marcum home on May 26, 1967.
Family said she was brave as she fought to live and that her smile and caring ways will always be remembered.
Lisa is preceded in death by her sister Tonia Ketchum and foster fathers Dave Endes and Ken Marcum.
She is survived by her husband Edward (Lee) Pierce and his family of Corralitos; mother Annette Marcum; sister Laura Wasielewski and husband Paul; brothers David White, Dennis White and Jeremiah Rose all of Ben Lomond; brothers William Matheson of Stockton and Paul Burton of Pittsburg, PA, a niece, nephew a great niece and great nephew.
