The Little League seasons in Scotts Valley and the San Lorenzo Valley are coming to a close, with tight games in the heat.

Scotts Valley Little League
AAA Division
Astros 11, Braves 7
In AAA playoff action, the red-hot Astros scored 10 runs in the first three innings, led by early RBI singles from Zach Snider, Ryan Bariteau and Chase Collins and a deep double to center field from Scott Birlem that drove in a run. Max Smith and Nathan Kvamme added RBI singles later and Trevor Wiechmann had two hits.
For the Braves, Joe Murray had two singles, while Chris Shaw added an RBI double and Shane Ford drove in three runs.
Majors Division
Giants 5, Brewers 2
The Giants won their five most recent games, including the finale against the Brewers, to finish in first place in the regular season.
Starting pitcher Jack Palmer fanned eight through 4-2/3 innings and fireman Tanner Spence struck out two in 1-1/3 innings for the save. Ryan Myers had two singles and an RBI, Brett Ifland singled, was hit by a pitch and knocked in a run, Spence walked and singled and drove in a run, and Gregory Neiger walked, singled and scored two runs.
Cardinals 7, A’s 3
In the first playoff game in the Majors Division, the Cardinals triumphed behind a combined four-hitter from Drew Collishaw, A.J. Collishaw and Jake Wiechmann. The trio fanned 11 en route to the win. Offensively, A.J. Collishaw and Wiechmann had two hits, Drew Collishaw doubled and Georgia Parsons, Owen Rockow, Joe Kim and Daniel Shamshoian all singled.
Austin Walsh hit a first-inning homer for the A’s and also singled. Jake Utic and Spencer Smith added singles, as well.
A Division
Lookouts 17, Storm 8
In front of packed stands at Siltanen Park on Monday, June 7, the Lookouts won the A Division championship.
“The Storm was a very strong competitor,” Lookout coach Jared Lewis said after the game. “It took a true team effort, with every player making a contribution both hitting and fielding, to pull this one out.”
The Lookouts and the Storm each won three consecutive games Friday, Saturday and Sunday to play for the championship.
The Lookouts are Dillon Cambra, Wilder Lockwood, Evan Atchley, Ryan Gomez, Logan Gunderson, Winston Moses, Ashley Lewis, Robert Hipwell, Lukas Obrecht, Robbie Hall, Carson Codiga and Aiden Paul, coached by Craig Lockwood, Jared Lewis and Doug Hipwell.
San Lorenzo Valley Little League
Majors Division
Red Sox 3, Indians 0
The Red Sox’s Bryce Nunes threw a complete-game, two-hit shutout of the Indians. He recorded 10 ground ball outs in the win.
Jack Gentry threw four shutout innings for the Indians, but in the fifth, Ian MacDonnell walked, followed by singles by
Nunes and Jared Trader, before a double by Hans Suwinski drove in Trader for the third run of the inning.
Indians 10, Phillies 4
The Indians forced a playoff for the second-half championship behind a complete game by Jonah Shabry.
The Indians led 5-0 in the first behind Shabry’s double, Tanner Murray’s triple, and singles from Gentry, Mitchell Kamau, Charlie Wiegel, and Dylan Hendricks. Cody Peterson drove in a run, and Robbie Carling drove in two.
The Phillies met the Red Sox on Thursday, June 10, to decide the second half. Results were not available at press time.
Minors Division
Cardinals 11, Yankees 1
The Cardinals won a trip to the Minors Tournament of Champions, beginning Sunday, June 13, with a win against the Yankees.
Julian Auldridge doubled and Ben Grove, Matt Siordia and Trent Walker singled for the Cards.
Yankees Cole Lazzarini, Stevie Markey and Davey George had hits, and Elliot Brown and Ben Kanter struck out eight in the loss.
AA Division
Red Sox 17, Phillies 10
The Sox started hot with singles from Matt Farinsky, Mason Cada and Hunter Reynolds. In the fourth, Farinsky singled again and later scored on Ben Yanowitz’s double.
The Phillies were led by Aiden St. Arno, who walked twice, singled and scored twice. Jack Calden knocked in a run in the first inning with a single, and Cody Noble drove in St. Arno with his single.
