The victims of Sunday’s shooting on Pacific Avenue and Birch Lane in Santa Cruz were residents of Ben Lomond and Scotts Valley.
At approximately 8 p.m. on Jan. 25, Santa Cruz city police responded to reports of gunfire near Pacific Avenue and Birch Lane. 
Upon arrival, the gunshot victims were located in a parked vehicle on Birch Lane and were identified as a 16-year-old female from Scotts Valley, and a 17-year-old female from Ben Lomond. They were treated at Dominican Hospital and released with non-life-threatening injuries.
Both suspects involved in the shooting are still being sought. Police believe that this incident was gang-motivated.
On Tuesday, SCPD Lt. Bernie Escalante said that police were in the process of searching the area for surveillance video footage and additional witnesses to the shooting.
