A trio of local high school football players swept the All-Pacific Coast Athletic League Mission Division’s top awards for the 2025 fall season.

Scotts Valley senior Vaughn Chomentowski was recognized as the Offensive Player of the Year, while teammate senior Vinny Noce was named the Lineman of the Year by the coaches within the division.

San Lorenzo Valley junior Jacob Hardin took home Defensive Player of the Year honors for the Cougars, who clinched their first league title in 15 years. He finished with 70 total tackles (27 solo), 4.5 sacks and one interception, according to statistics on the Max Preps website.

Hardin also received All-PCAL First Team Defense honors alongside senior teammates Gabe Machado, Kenji Pane and Olin Bates.

Machado had 53 total tackles, four sacks and one interception, while Pane recorded 37 tackles and one interception. Bates finished with 24 total tackles and four sacks.

Bates along with juniors Evan Jordan and Justin Griffis each earned all-league first team offense honors. As linemen, Bates and Jordan paved the way for Griffis who tallied 836 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on 146 carries.

PCAL Mission Division-North champion SLV fell, 31-13, to Willow Glen in the Central Coast Section Division IV quarterfinals on Nov. 14. They finished with an 8-3 overall record, and went 5-0 in league play this season.

Chomentowski, Noce and senior lineman Colin Wheatly, who led a Falcon offense that was highly effective in the rushing game, each received All-PCAL First Team Offense honors.

Chomentowski also earned all-league first team defense honors alongside senior teammates Caleb Mendoza, Oak Silingas and Isaac Currie. 

Scotts Valley (8-3, 4-1) snuck its way into the playoffs as runner-up in the Mission Division-North. Their season came to an end following a heartbreaking 24-21 loss to Lincoln in the CCS Division IV quarterfinals on Nov. 14.
