Rev. Randall Kay sits in his office at Felton Bible Church, preparing for his final sermon on Sunday before handing the congregants over to a new minister.

After preaching more than a thousand sermons to his 140-member congregation, the Rev. Randal Kay announced his resignation from the Felton Bible Church. His last sermon will be Sunday, Oct. 15.
Kay, 62, has served as the church’s leader for the past 20 years.
“I felt it was time for the church to move in a new direction with a younger voice,” said Kay, the longest-tenured pastor in the establishment’s 55-year history. “This church is a gracious place. It’s bitter sweet leaving.”
Later this month, the new leader, the Rev. PJ Davis, 35, will move here from the Los Angeles area to assume the leadership role.
Born and raised in Southern California, Kay was first called to Felton Bible Church as Youth Pastor in 1977. After pastoring out of state and church planting in Northern California, Kay returned to Felton Bible Church in October, 1997.
“Saying farewell to a great pastor and good friend will not be easy,” said Jennifer Osorio, office manager.
Following countless prayers, more than a thousand sermons, dozens of baptisms, weddings, births and deaths at Felton Bible Church, Kay intends to spend the autumn months discerning where his next calling is.
“I don’t think we’re done yet, we’re just looking for something new,” said Kay, whose wife, Linda, has also been involved with the church. “We feel very much at peace.”
The first order of business, Kay said, is to watch his son, Jordan, 17, graduate from San Lorenzo Valley High School this June.
