A San Lorenzo Valley magician will serve six years in state prison for child molestation, a judge ruled on Aug. 26
Shane Wright, 27, met the 12-year-old girl while performing magic tricks at a birthday party last summer and had contact with her for about two months before her mother discovered illicit text messages between them and reported it to authorities, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
Wright, who also goes by “Silva”, gave his phone number to most of the girls at the birthday party and asked for the 12-year-old’s number. The two started talking on the phone, sent texts to each other and met at secret locations.
Write, who has two children of his own, pursued a sexual relationship with the 12-year-old and encouraged her to seek emancipation from her parents.
The girl’s mother found disturbing texts between Wright and her daughter and notified authorities.
Judge Paul Marigonda ruled that Wright’s failure to recognize the wrongfulness of actions, his prior history, and unconventional vagabond lifestyle rendered Wright unfit for probation.
