A memorial service will be Saturday, March 16, for longtime Bonny Doon resident Marjorie Ann Roussopoulos, who died Saturday, March 9, at her home in Bonny Doon. She was 84.
Mrs. Roussopoulos was born in Rockford, Ill., to Della (Nesler) and Harvey West, and was the youngest of eight children. Her early years were spent living in La Crosse, Wisc., and on the west side of St. Paul, Minn.
She graduated from St. Paul’s Humbolt High School a year ahead of her age group and attended the University of Minnesota. On June 23, 1945, she married Harold D. Roussopoulos. The couple raised three sons.
Mrs. Roussopoulos left her job as community organizer with St. Paul’s Neighborhood House when her husband retired from 3M in 1977, and they took up hobby farming near Wisconsin Dells, Wisc., where she worked part time at the H. H. Bennett Museum of Photography.
In 1982, the couple moved to Bonny Doon and became members of Bonny Doon Presbyterian Church. For 25 years she managed her son Gary’s office of the Mountain Animal Hospital. She was active in community affairs throughout her life, especially in Bonny Doon.
She is survived by sons Peter of Ellenboro, North Carolina, Gary of Bonny Doon, and Paul of Angwin; a sister, Marion Wheeler of Onalaska, Wisc.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Harold Roussopoulos; and siblings Helen Koepke, Calvin West, Jane Willis, Walter Miles West, Jack West and Etta Mae Koepke.
A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at Bonny Doon Presbyterian Church, 7065 Bonny Doon Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Roussopoulos’ name may be made to Bonny Doon Presbyterian Church, 7065 Bonny Doon Road, Santa Cruz, CA 95060; or Hospice of Santa Cruz County, 940 Disc Drive, Scotts Valley, CA 95066.
