Situated among scores of stately redwood trees, Community Covenant Church welcomes Sunday worshipers. Their new minister, lead pastor Jeremiah Fair, is almost as tall as one of the redwood trees.
Although he grew up in Turlock, and Dallas, Texas, Fair graduated from Monterey High School where his father, Pastor Chuck Fair, was youth pastor at the Carmel Presbyterian Church. He earned a B.A in English and Literature at California State University-Stanislaus in Turlock.
For nearly ten years, Fair worked at Crossroads Church in Turlock — first as the college youth pastor and then as lead pastor. Currently, he is studying for his Masters in Theology at the Fuller Theological Seminary of Pasadena site located at St. Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park.
Pastor Fair and his family are new to Scotts Valley. They like the community very much and are looking forward to getting better acquainted with folks here. He and his wife, Amy, have two children, Micah and Titus, who both attend Baymonte Christian School.
He would like the community to know that Community Covenant Church is more than just three crosses on the highway. It is a safe place for families to come to worship in a community. Like many evangelical churches, the children worship in the sanctuary for half the service and then go to their Sunday school classes.
A “Covenant” church is an interdenominational evangelical, family oriented-church which features conversation, some doctrine, and welcomes anyone who follows Jesus and His teachings.
Community Covenant Church has about 120-140 worshipers each Sunday at the 10:30 a.m. service. They have junior high and senior high youth Sunday evening groups led by youth pastor Brian McCutcheon and a Bible study for seniors lead by Gerry Cox on the first and third Tuesday mornings. There are also many other events available, please look on their website: ccsv.org.
Community Covenant Church is located at 2700 El Rancho Drive, Scotts Valley, right off the Mt. Hermon exit of Highway 17. Look for the three white crosses.
