Storm batters valley
The San Lorenzo River overflowed its banks in the Felton Grove neighborhood on Thursday, Dec. 20 and Friday, Dec. 21 forcing a voluntary evacuation of homes in the neighborhood. Flood waters also came over the banks on Sunday, Dec. 23, and some residents evacuated a second time. The storms dumped more than 9 inches on the San Lorenzo Valley between December 21 and December 25.
 
Sobriety checkpoint in Scotts Valley
The Scotts Valley Police Department will hold a sobriety checkpoint in Scotts Valley this evening, Friday, Dec. 28 in Scotts Valley.
The location has not been released by police, however officers say the checkpoint will be clearly marked on a roadway with established drunk-driving problems. Drivers will have contact with officers for less than 30 seconds unless the driver is instructed to take a field sobriety test.
