50th reunion approaches
The San Lorenzo Valley High School Class of 1963 reunion will take place at 5 p.m., Saturday, July 13 at Scopazzi’s, 13300 Big Basin Highway in Boulder Creek.

Preston Boomer also invited the class to visit his home at 60 Verde Drive in Bonny Doon from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, followed by a pipe organ concert at 4 p.m.
 
Food donations sought
After a lower-than-expected haul during the Post Office canned food drive in May, Valley Churches United Missions seeks food donations to stock depleted shelves. The 2013 postal drive netted 682 pounds of food, far less than the 2012 collection of 5,427 pounds, according to VCUM records.
The organization seeks food donations which can be dropped off at VCUM, 9400 Highway 9 in Ben Lomond from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, the Scotts Valley Chamber of Commerce, 360 Kings Village Road, in Scotts Valley from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily or Ben Lomond Gas Station, 9500 Highway 9 in Ben Lomond from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

Fireworks volunteers needed
The City of Scotts Valley Advocates seek volunteers to help with the Fourth of July Fireworks in Scotts Valley. Volunteers are needed for one of two shifts, a 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. and a 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. shift. Volunteers receive a barbecue meal ticket and free admission to the fireworks show. Fancy car tour planned
The Symphony League of Santa Cruz County will host the first Auto d’Elegance classic car tour and event on Saturday, July 13 in Scotts Valley. The tour will allow classic car owners to drive their pre-1979 classic car to three destinations including the Canepa Museum in Scotts Valley and a winery in the Santa Cruz mountains for a gourmet lunch. Volunteers sought for Metro committee
Santa Cruz Metropolitan District Directors Dene Bustichi of Scotts Valley and Ron Graves of Capitola seek volunteers from their communities to apply to the METRO Advisory Committee. The committee consists of 11 members of the community who are nominated and appointed to advice Metro’s board of directors on policy, operations and other transportation issues.
