Director sought for musical
San Lorenzo Valley High School seeks directors for its 2014-15 musical and students to direct the 2014-15 spring student production.
There will be an open house for interested directors to ask questions at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 11 in the San Lorenzo Valley High School staff room, 7105 Highway 9 in Felton.
Musical proposals will be tentatively hear on June 10 and student proposals heard September 9 by the SLVHS Drama Boosters.

Kindergarten orientation begins in SV
Brook Knoll and Vine Hill elementary schools in Scotts Valley Unified School District will hold kindergarten parent orientation meetings at the end of this month for students who will enter kindergarten in the fall.
Brook Knoll will hold its meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 26 at the Rec Room on its campus, 151 Brook Knoll Drive, Santa Cruz. Vine Hill’s meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 27 in Room 3 on campus, 151 Vine Hill School Road in Scotts Valley. Information regarding the kindergarten program will be provided at the orientation meeting.
Kindergarten introduction to be held in valley
A kindergarten registration round-up will be held between 8:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 14 at San Lorenzo Valley Elementary School. Tours of kindergarten classrooms will be conducted every half hour starting at 8:45 a.m. with the last tour at 11:15 a.m. After 12:30 kindergarten teachers will be available to meet families and answer questions.
Transitional kindergarten registration — for student who turn 5 between Sept. 1 and Dec. 2, 2014 — will be held Friday, April 18 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Ludlow Center behind the football field at SLV High School. The program is available for Boulder Creek and SLVE students.

4H recruits members
Felton 4H is open to new student-aged members. The club meets at 7 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month in the multi-use room at San Lorenzo Valley Elementary School, 7155 Highway 9 in Felton. 4H activities include robotics and engineering, cooking, livestock, archery, games, camp, crafts and leadership opportunities for young people. Community river forums announced
The San Lorenzo River Alliance, a project of the Coastal Watershed Council will host two more community forums related to improving the San Lorenzo River.
The first meeting will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, March 24 at Highlands Park, 8500 Highway 9 in Ben Lomond and co-hosted by Supervisor Bruce McPherson. The second will be at the Patagonia Outlet Store, 415-C River Street in Santa Cruz from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, May 12.
An earlier meeting had several suggestions including opening the lower San Lorenzo River for recreational access and paddling, bringing food and food trucks to the Riverwalk, and increasing informational signage. For information: 464-9200 or email
