New preschool opens doors in Ben Lomond
With an inaugural class of six students, Busy Busy Bees Preschool will begin classes for 2014-2015 in Ben Lomond.
Owned by Elizabeth Weber, a credentialed teacher who has taught kindergarten, first, and second grades, the school highlights beginning reading, writing, music, art, science, physical education, and play in a one-on-one learning environment.
The preschool, the third that Weber has owned and operated, is located at 8596 Glen Arbor Road in Ben Lomond.

Romanian children’s concerts coming to Boulder Creek, Scotts Valley 
A group of orphaned children from Romania will be stopping in Boulder Creek and Scotts Valley next week to sing songs and tell stories as part of their fundraising tour of the United States.
“Felix Family Group” is composed of children who were once abandoned to the streets and sewers of Romania due to 40 years of dictatorship and communist rule. Their home is now at Caminul Felix (which means “happy home”), an orphanage committed to raising as many children as possible in secure and loving families.
During the free concerts (donations are accepted), the children tell their stories of rescue. 
The concerts will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug 29 at the Boulder Creek Community Church and at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30 at the Green Hills Event Center, 1500 Green Hills Road (Calvary Chapel) in Scotts Valley.
After-school youth leadership program set for second year
Youth in Charge, a sports-based after-school leadership program for boys and girls between second and fifth grades, will be returning for its second year.
The program, which is not affiliated with San Lorenzo Valley Elementary School, is hosted on the SLE campus by owner Mike Herzog.
According to a press release, this year’s program will feature Fitness and Sports Training (FAST), designed to develop core leadership qualities for boys and girls through the major skills used in most competitive sports; like running, throwing, catching, and kicking.
Leadership groups will also be instructed on the fundamentals of coaching which will progress into participants leading others into sets of their very own skills, drills, games and activities.
FAST will run Mondays through Thursdays during the school year.

Agape Dance Academy announces open house
The Agape Dance Academy recently announced that it would kick off the 2014/2015 season with an open house and registration faire event on Saturday, Aug. 23.
New and returning students can sign up for classes at the event between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Student who participated in Agape’s summer camps may be part of our student demonstrations, which will take place between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. e orders.
