SVPD releases sketch of suspect in indecent exposure incident
Scotts Valley police are seeking the public’s help investigating an incident that took place on Thursday, Aug. 28, when a man reportedly exposed himself to a juvenile near the intersection of Scotts Valley Drive and Bean Creek Road.
According to a SVPD press release, a juvenile female was walking on Bean Creek Road, when man in a green truck reportedly made kissing sounds to get her attention. When the girl turned and looked at the man, he rose from his seat and exposed his genitals before he left on northbound Scotts Valley Drive.
The suspect was described as being in his twenties, wearing a white T-shirt, tan pants, and blade-style sunglasses.  He had short dark hair and was described as being either Caucasian or Hispanic. The vehicle involved was described as a small, dark green two-door Toyota truck with silver rims.

Felton Fire to host CERT training course
The Felton Fire Protection District announced it will be hosting a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training course on Wednesdays through October. 
The 23-hour course is designed to help residents prepare for all kinds of disasters including winter storms, windstorms, and earthquakes.
The course will consist of skills like: preparedness, medical triage, disaster first aid, incident command and CERT organization, psychological first aid, hands-on use of a fire extinguisher and structure triage, and light search and rescue.
The classes go from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Wednesdays beginning Oct. 1, culminating with an all-day class on Saturday, Nov. 1.

Democratic club endorses local candidates
At its Tuesday, Sept. 2 meeting, the Crosson North County Democratic Club held its endorsement forum for the upcoming November election.
The club members endorsed Stephany Aguilar for Scotts Valley City Council, Gene Ratcliffe for San Lorenzo Valley Water District, and Merrie Schaller and John Schneider for Lompico Water District. 
In order to receive the club’s endorsement, each candidate reached the approval threshold of 60 percent

Air pollution district announces grant funds for woodstove
The Monterey Bay Unified Air Pollution Control District announced that residents of the San Lorenzo Valley communities are eligible for up to $2,500 in grant funds to offset the cost of changing out wood stoves with cleaner-burning alternatives.
According to a district press release, qualifying alternative heating devices include gas, propane, electric, or pellet stoves.
Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis until all funds are depleted, the release stated.
