Board member resigns from Boulder Creek Rec
Kevin Perry resigned from his post on the Boulder Creek Recreation District board of directors Feb. 27.
Perry, who was elected in November 2008, told the board in a letter that he no longer had the proper amount of time to devote to conducting the board’s business. In the letter, he said his resignation had nothing to do with controversy surrounding the proposed recreation headquarters.
Perry said he will remain involved in district planning.
The board has 90 days to name a successor, who would fill the remaining two years of Perry’s four-year term.
Scotts Valley approves new fees for developers
The Scotts Valley City Council approved new development fees to pay for future improvements to intersections at Whispering Pines Road and Highway 17 on Mount Hermon Road.
The fees, approved March 3, will apply to developers whose projects will influence traffic on Mount Hermon Road, such as the coming Holiday Inn Express or businesses that will be a part of the long-awaited town center.
The fee amount will be determined by how much traffic a business would generate. The money will be saved until traffic on Mount Hermon surpasses congestion levels allowed by the general plan.
The future improvements include adding a second left-turn lane onto Whispering Pines Drive from Mount Hermon Road and a second right-turn lane on Mount Hermon Road at La Madrona Drive for those getting off Highway 17 from San Jose.
